What some people still do not know is that one of the best and most underutilized ways to sell on Instagram is via Instagram DMs

What you want to do with your initial message is to send a message that makes it very easy for them to respond. This will also mean that Instagram will show them your content because the algorithm sees this as a relationship between you.

Current followers

You can send your current followers a DM that provides a benefit to them, for example, offer them free items, discounts, exclusive sales or just provide news. If someone has been thinking to buy for a while this might be what will trigger them to make that first purchase.

 

Other Instagram users

No matter what you sell or what your business is, you can find other users you can collaborate with. For example, if you are a food blogger, you can find restaurants to collaborate with. Many will agree to provide free meals or discounted meals for exposure. 

 

If you are a fashion retailer, you can find influencers to promote your items. This will work more with influencers just starting out. Hair vendors can work with models. 

 

Of course, all these can work the other way round where it is the restaurant that contacts the blogger.

 

Instagram DMs take time and of course, there are Instagram limits you do not want to exceed, or you will get banned but, this is a method you definitely need to try.
